Meet The Maker
I am Whitney, a South Dakota leather artist. The stunning Black Hills is my home and where “Hills Edge Leather” began in 2012. I am self-taught and now a professional leather carver.
I create functional pieces of art such as high end, belts, planners, binders, headstalls, breastcollars, one-of-a-kind purses, and more. My work stands out thanks to my strong work ethic and meticulous attention to detail. Every pattern drawn, knife cut, bead strung, paint stroke, assembly is all done by my hands. I always strive to excel in every aspect of my life, with sincerity. Another part of my life I am just as devoted to is horses. Every moment I'm not at the leather bench, I enjoy raising, breaking, training, caring for, and competing with our horses. My involvement in rodeoing, barrel racing, and marriage to Jace (saddle bronc rider and professional equine massage therapist) has led to the creation of items that are as practical as they are beautiful. I am deeply devoted to leather and horses, however, our child is our utmost concern, resulting in a busy lifestyle. At the forefront of our responsibilities is the role of parents to our spirited daughter, Rhett. She possesses a strong-willed, determined nature, and we find joy in guiding her upbringing in our Western way of life.
I am eager to partner with you in designing an art piece for your long-term enjoyment. I am grateful for friends transitioning into clients and clients evolving into friends.
